I absolutely love how there are elements from previous works (The Science of Patterns) that appear in this track! Nice attention to detail, in that it captures the glimpses of experiences from early career to now.
2x GRAMMY® Award–nominated electronic artist Tycho continues his new era with premiere of the deeply personal single, “Small Sanctuary,” available via Ninja Tune/Mom + Pop Music.
“Small Sanctuary” finds Tycho mastermind Scott Hansen fully at the helm, composing, producing, performing, and creating original artwork, while once again collaborating on mixing duties alongside Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor, further honing a working relationship begun with the recently released “Time To Run,” available via Ninja Tune/Mom + Pop Music.
“Innocent and unburdened by the trappings of modern life, children are a pure expression of the human condition,” says Scott Hansen. “To watch them grow and learn is to witness a sanctuary for the human spirit. I wrote this song for my daughter who brings me limitless joy and inspiration. The artwork represents the menagerie of experiences and ideas that form our selfhood. From early life to adulthood, we collect these things in our memory and they come to define us."

I think it's difficult to write songs about something other than romantic love, and still be able to communicate the intensity with which those feelings can hit a person. Some of the entries on this album are fantastic examples of this niche. dani_bloop
